SINOPSYS
Behind the Pain(t) is an approx. 75 min stop motion 3D puppet and shadow puppet animation bittersweet comedy feature film that tells the story of three elderly immigrant ladies who embark on a mission to steal a treasure from the past and are forced to confront their hidden traumas. Nina is originally from the USSR, Rose is Hungarian and Doris flee from Eastern Germany, and however they have a traumatic past they all settled in their new life in North America and would not return to their home countries. When Nina comes across a special painting at an auction night, she convinces her friends to steal the work of art. During the preparation emotions emerge triggered by smells, words, or situations and all three women reveal some unknown dark details from their past.
