​The loud and tendentious Rose had lost her best friend while they were trying to fight against the occupation forces invading her country. She managed to flee from the political prison and started a new life on a new continent with a husband she met on the plane on the day of her escape. After her husband dies, she keeps their little antique shop running and holds monthly bridge parties in her basement with her long-time customer friends.
